Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Animal Care Technician to join our team. This role involves providing daily care, monitoring, and maintaining the health and well-being of animals in our facility. The ideal candidate is passionate about animal welfare, has excellent observational skills, and can work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
 

Key Responsibilities

1. Animal Care

   • Feed, water, and groom animals according to specific care instructions.
   • Clean and disinfect cages, kennels, and work areas to maintain a hygienic environment.
   • Monitor animals for signs of illness, injury, or abnormal behavior and report findings to the veterinary team.

2. Medical Assistance

   • Assist veterinarians during medical exams, treatments, and surgeries.
   • Administer medications and treatments under supervision.
   • Record vital signs and maintain accurate medical records.

3. Facility Maintenance

   • Maintain cleanliness and organization of animal care areas and equipment.
   • Ensure compliance with safety and sanitation standards.

4. Customer Interaction

   • Educate pet owners on proper animal care and post-treatment instructions.
   • Provide compassionate support to clients during pet intake and discharge.

5. Team Collaboration

   • Work closely with veterinarians, technicians, and support staff to ensure optimal animal care.
   • Participate in training sessions and team meetings as required.

Qualifications

Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Prior experience in animal care (e.g., veterinary clinic, shelter, or research facility).
• Ability to handle animals of various sizes and temperaments.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred:

• Certification as a Veterinary Assistant (CVA) or equivalent.
• Experience with animal behavior and handling techniques.
• Knowledge of animal nutrition, health, and welfare.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks such as bending, standing, and kneeling.
• Comfortable working in noisy or outdoor environments.
