Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Animal Care Technician to join our team. This role involves providing daily care, monitoring, and maintaining the health and well-being of animals in our facility. The ideal candidate is passionate about animal welfare, has excellent observational skills, and can work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities

Animal Care
- Feed, water, and groom animals according to specific care instructions.
- Clean and disinfect cages, kennels, and work areas to maintain a hygienic environment.
- Monitor animals for signs of illness, injury, or abnormal behavior and report findings to the veterinary team.

Medical Assistance
- Assist veterinarians during medical exams, treatments, and surgeries.
- Administer medications and treatments under supervision.
- Record vital signs and maintain accurate medical records.

Facility Maintenance
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of animal care areas and equipment.
- Ensure compliance with safety and sanitation standards.

Customer Interaction
- Educate pet owners on proper animal care and post-treatment instructions.
- Provide compassionate support to clients during pet intake and discharge.

Team Collaboration
- Work closely with veterinarians, technicians, and support staff to ensure optimal animal care.
- Participate in training sessions and team meetings as required.
Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Prior experience in animal care (e.g., veterinary clinic, shelter, or research facility).
- Ability to handle animals of various sizes and temperaments.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred:
- Certification as a Veterinary Assistant (CVA) or equivalent.
- Experience with animal behavior and handling techniques.
- Knowledge of animal nutrition, health, and welfare.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks such as bending, standing, and kneeling.
- Comfortable working in noisy or outdoor environments.
