Job Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Veterinary Technician to join our veterinary team. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality care for animals, assisting veterinarians in diagnosing and treating medical conditions, conducting lab work, and providing general care. As a Veterinary Technician, you will play an essential role in ensuring that our patients receive excellent medical care in a supportive and safe environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with Medical Procedures: Prepare animals and assist veterinarians during medical procedures, surgeries, and diagnostics.
- Conduct Diagnostic Tests: Perform lab tests such as blood work, urinalysis, and cytology, and assist with interpreting results.
- Animal Monitoring: Monitor vital signs of animals before, during, and after surgical procedures, including anesthesia monitoring.
- X-Rays and Imaging: Operate radiographic equipment to take x-rays and diagnostic images.
- Administer Medications: Administer prescribed medications, vaccines, and treatments under the direction of a veterinarian.
- Patient Care: Provide general care, including feeding, cleaning, and grooming of animals in the clinic.
- Client Communication: Educate pet owners on post-surgery care, nutrition, and other healthcare topics. Provide advice and support to ensure the well-being of pets.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and detailed medical records for each animal, including treatment plans, medications, and progress notes.
- Surgical Assistance: Prepare operating rooms, surgical instruments, and assist veterinarians during surgical procedures.
- Sterilization and Equipment Maintenance: Ensure that medical instruments and equipment are sterilized and properly maintained.
Qualifications:
- Education & Experience:
- Associate’s degree in Veterinary Technology or related field.
- Must be a licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) or have the equivalent certification in your region.
- Experience in a veterinary clinic or animal hospital setting preferred.
- Skills & Knowledge:
- Knowledge of veterinary medical procedures, terminology, and equipment.
- Ability to handle animals safely and with care.
- Excellent communication skills to educate pet owners and work with other team members.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
